The Association for Civil Rights in Israel sent a letter today (30 May 2013) to the CEO of ‘Amusement City Ltd.) which operates the Superland complex in Rishon Letzion, demanding that they revoke their policy of separating Jewish and Arabic groups that come to visit the amusement park.

The letter, sent by Attorney Auni Banna, Director of the Arab Minority Rights Department at ACRI, warned that “a policy promoting separate days for students of different nationalities is in its essence discriminatory”.

ACRI additionally sent a letter to the Chief of Police in Rishon Letzion calling on him to open an investigation into Amusement City Ltd. on suspicion of an offense under section 9 of the Law Prohibiting Discrimination in Products, Services and Entry into Places of Entertainment and Public Facilities, 2000. The law specifically prohibits discrimination based on nationality, including for entertainment services such as those provided at the Superland amusement park.
