Protesters harassed and threatened outside the Minister of Education’s house

demostration-by-Tal-Dahan

This evening, on 25 October 2016, a protest was planned by teachers outside the Education Minister’s home in Ra’anana. They protested against the withholding of wages and serious issues regarding the remuneration of employees in the school system. Despite the fact that the demonstration did require a license, the Sharon District Police made it difficult and imposed requirements on the protesters, that had no legal basis. The police threatened that the demonstration was supposedly illegal, and that there would be criminal consequences.

ACRI Attorney Sharona Eliyahu-Chai urgently petitioned the Central District Police Commander, demanding that he instruct the police station in Kfar Saba-Ra’anana to avoid misusing their powers in order to suppress this legitimate protest.
