High Court petition: Invalidate the “Regev Amendments”

CC BY-SA: Avi Ohayon

On 29 September 2016, ACRI submitted a petition to the High Court against Minister Miri Regev, demanding to invalidate the “Regev Amendments” which affect funding criteria for theater, dance and musical groups. The amendments provide extra funding for performances in the settlements, and reduce support for those who avoid performing in the settlements.

The petition claims that these amendments undermine the freedom of expression and freedom of conscience of creators, artists and actors, and discriminate according to political views. The petition also claims that the amendments are inconsistent with the Boycott Law and the Court’s judgement on the matter.
