Yihia Al-Amudi

Yihia Al-Amudi was 12 years old when he was shot in the face by a black sponge bullet in the main street of the Shu’fat refugee camp and lost sight in his left eye.

The Red Crescent ambulance that collected Yihia was delayed at the checkpoint when leaving the camp, because he was not carrying ID when he was injured. In the meantime, his condition worsened and he lost a lot of blood. According to Yihia’s father, police were waiting for Yihia at the hospital to see if he was involved in an incident and claimed that his injury was the result of being hit by a stone. A CT scan found that a black sponge bullet caused 11 fractures to Yihia’s face.
