Does something sound off to you?\u00a0Can you guess\u00a0which sentences in the video were flagged by the Second Authority for\u00a0Television\u00a0and Radio\u00a0and taken off the air?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Human rights - Because without them we are not equal.\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/E9j7LBLlmas?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>It turns out that in 2016 Israel, the sentence \u201cI am also gay,\u201d is unacceptable for broadcast\u00a0because it is \u201ccontroversial.\u201d The sentences\u00a0\u201cthe right to speak Arabic without\u00a0fear\u201d and \u201cNo\u00a0equality, no\u00a0liberation, no\u00a0dignity\u201d\u00a0were also deemed unacceptable\u00a0(whose\u00a0continuation,\u00a0\u201cin a place that doesn\u2019t\u00a0protect\u00a0human\u00a0rights,\u201d was not censored). These three dangerous sentences led the Second Authority to reject the video we\u00a0wanted\u00a0to broadcast during Human Rights Week.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a fragmented and divided society like Israel, every subject is controversial. But there are also subjects, like defending human rights\u00a0&#8211; something\u00a0that\u00a0should\u00a0be\u00a0central in our\u00a0lives and openly debated without restrictions. In a democratic society,\u00a0how can the\u00a0very concept of human rights,\u00a0equality and minority rights\u00a0be\u00a0considered controversial when they are the foundations on which democratic societies are based?!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The decision to reject the broadcast stunned us. It signals a new low point in the deterioration of the state of democracy and freedom of speech for all of us. What is next? What else will we find out is unacceptable to say?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>ACRI is not giving up. We have asked the attorney general of the Second Authority to instruct the commercial department to immediately cancel the rejection of our broadcast, and we are prepared to go to court.
