Gaza Strip

The Gaza Strip is controlled by Hamas while access between Gaza and Israel is under the control of the IDF. Despite the civilian population’s protection under International Law, the residents of Gaza are continually denied their most basic human rights, and inadvertently placed at the heart of armed conflict.
ACRI seeks first and foremost to safeguard the fundamental human rights of the civilians living within the Gaza strip. To this end, ACRI utilizes legal maneuvers and public advocacy in order to promote the human rights of the civilian population against the Israeli military by supporting independent investigations in instances where civilians have been harmed by violations of international law, to oppose the continued social and economic stress placed on Gaza through restrictions on the movement of goods and people for the purpose of employment, to defend the rights of demonstrators and activists working towards public awareness and the promotion of human rights, and to attempt to hold Hamas accountable for human rights violations.
